Description of my issue:

I often need to update the htaccess file numerous times using Admin Tools. I have custom code to go at the bottom of the htaccess file, but annoyingly I have to enter custom code every time because when I save the htaccess file the custom code disappears from the 'Custom .htaccess rules at the bottom of the file' field - even though the htaccess file is correctly created and other fields are recorded in the database properly.

Is this by design or just a problem for me? Why can't this custom code get stored in the database? At the moment I'm always in danger of overwriting the custom code with an empty custom rules field.

I'm also occasionally losing the content in this field: "Allow direct access, including .php files, to these directories"

Thanks

This is not by design. It seems to be a limitation on some hosts. Does your host disable PHP's base64_encode() / base64_decode() functions? You can check this by going to your site's administrator section, Help, System Info and check the PHP Info tab. There is a row called "disabled_functions". Can you please copy & paste the information from that row back here? It will help me understand the conditions under which this issue occurs. Thank you!

Hm... That's not anything we use in Admin Tools. Is it possible to send me a Personal Message with the custom rules that trigger this problem? I would like to give it a try on a local testing server in case I can reproduce and resolve this issue.
