Description of my issue:

I was reading the documentation for creating a new .htaccess file. As stated, I turned all the other options OFF except for all the options in the BASIC section are turned ON.

I saved and it created the new .htaccess file. Now I am banned from both the front end and back end. I deleted the .htaccess file via FTP and replaced it with my old one that I saved on my local machine. I am still banned. Moreover, a backup file (as stated in the documentation) was not created on the server.

PLEASE help.

Ok, I went to my database and deleted my IP from the banned list. I had my IP listed in my whitelist, I thought I couldn't be banned?

No, this is not the case. The whitelist serves a completely different purpose, it only declares which IPs (and only those IPs) should be allowed to log in to the back-end.

Admin Tools Professional 2.1 will have a "safe IP list" feature where you can declare a list of IPs never to be automatically banned.
