Hi,

I have migrated Joomla website from v3.10.3 to v4.0.4.

And migrated Akeeba Backup from v8.x to v9.0.8.

The Console - Akeeba Backup extension is unpubliished after migration.

Should this be published?

The Console Plugin for Admin Tools v7.0.6 is auto-published after installation.

Many thanks,

Ken :)

That plugin is published on clean install or update. The migration does not touch it. Is it possible that you accidentally disabled it at some point between installing Akeeba Backup 9 and migrating data from AB8?

Hi Nicholas,

Maybe so.

I have a couple more sites to migrate to Joomla! 4 so will soon know if that was the case.

Anyhow, I assume it should be published.

Thanks for the super quick response.

Best wishes,

Ken :)

You're welcome!

If you see this happening again please take notes on the steps you followed so I can try to reproduce it. Just because I can't find a way to do that based on what we discussed here doesn't mean that there's no way it could happen. If there is a problem and I have a reproduction path I can definitely figure out how to solve it.

Have a great day!

Hi Nicholas,

I have now performed a clean install of Joomla! 4.0.4.

And installed Akeeba Backup v9.0.9.

All Akeeba extensions are published EXCEPT Action Log - Akeeba Backup and Console - Akeeba Backup.

I understand the Action Log extension not being auto-published (though I do enable it myself).

QUESTION

Should Comsole - Akeeba Backup always be published?

Thanks.

Ken :)

Yes, it should, but it currently isn't. Thank you for the heads up.

Akeeba Backup was the first extension I migrated to the native Joomla 4 API back in April. I had started working on it before Joomla reached Release Candidate. I had made a note to revisit whether the console plugin should be automatically enabled because at that time I was unsure about how Joomla would be going about it (would it use plugins or provide a direct integration with the component the way e.g. WordPress and WP-CLI do).

The answer is, Joomla requires a plugin to be published. I will add that to the list of auto–enabled plugins upon new installation. Your existing installations won't have the plugin auto–published; you will need to publish it yourself (the automatic publishing only takes place on new installations, not updates).
