Description of my issue:

Folks,

I'm trying to configure Akeeba Backup Pro to allow for archive (zip file) to be unlimited. Right now, the backup is break into 2.1 GB files. I'm running on a dedicated server so exceeding this limit is not a problem. How do I configure Akeeba Backup to store the backup into one archive file?

Thanks,

Joe

Hello,

inside the backup profile get in the Archiver Engine settings and set the part size to 0. Akeeba Backup will create one single, enormous archive.

However, we strongly suggest to avoid doing that, the probability that your archive gets corrupted will increase! First of all, if you are on a 32-bit version of PHP, you can't physically get any larger than 2Gb, otherwise you'll get an "integer overflow" since the number of bytes are simply "too large" for your PHP version to handle.

A very large archive could be blocked by the hosting company, some of them have protection in place to prevent the creation of files above a certain threshold in a short amount of time.

Finally, chances to corrupt the file during the transfer are a little higher with a large archive, since the transfer will take longer to happen.

So, long story short: yes, you can create larger archives, but I'd strongly suggest you to avoid doing that.
