Firstly akeeba backup is a first class product with which I have had very few issues, all of which were down to me.

Not really a bug report but a couple of suggestions.

In the restoration script there is a panel for Super User credentials with the opportunity to amend the email for the superuser -- that doesn't work,  it doesn't change the super user email -- maybe that is deliberate.

Other small issue which has caught me a couple of times, you do a check for special characters in database passwords would it be possible also to check the prefix for characters which screw up the PHP, "-" for instance. Took me a while top figure that out.

Hello,

I just checked and I was able to change the email of the user. Just to be sure, did you change the password as well or not?

Regarding the warning for the database prefix, I'll pass the suggestion to Nicholas

Thanks Davide and sorry if I was unclear. I was able to change the the email address in the restoration script text entry box but when the script completed and I checked the SU users entry the email address was teh original and had not been changed to that which I had entered.

No, I did not change the SU password.

Ok, that makes sense. Looking at the code, the email is changed only when you are changing user password.

Thanks again, is there any reason why the two should be linked like that? I would like just to change the email. My workflow is that I regularly take a clone of my production site to a test domain. And I find it useful is the email sender for the Production site an test site are different but the passwords the same.

The idea is that if you are changing the Super User you only need to do so because you have no access to the site otherwise, i.e. you'll need to change the password and MAYBE the email address.
