Hi guys,

I think there is slipped a bug into the new Akeeba .

I have installed the new version, but with this one if I try to put back a back-up, on my local test server to change/try new things the backup proces goes wrong in the last fase.

Also on my live server this happens btw

I get the notice that the super user email is not filed in and the process is halted. Actually the email field is filled in with my email as usual, but not editable anymore I noticed.

For now I have put back an old version of Akeeba 8.1.9 which works fine and as supposed to..

Hope this helps out...

I could not reproduce your issue but I did observe that the email address would appear as "undefined". I have already fixed that in https://www.akeeba.com/download/akeebapro/8-2-3-dev202210291028-rev7912a5ed.html Can you please install it, take a backup, and tell me if your problem went away? If not, which browser are you using?

Nicholas,

I have installed the dev. version on a test site and tried to set a backup taken with that dev. version back on my local test server and again the same error on last kickstart script/page.

I am using Firefox Developer 107.0b6 (64bit).

Should I try a other browser to test for you?

I only have Firefox 106 (stable) to test with, with no third party extensions except for an extension to set XDebug cookies for debugging PHP.  I tried taking a backup of a Joomla 4.2.4 site on PHP 8.1.10 with the dev release of Akeeba Backup I asked you to use. I am restoring it on a server which is also using PHP 8.1.10, on an empty database. I cannot reproduce your issue.

Then I looked at your screenshot again and the problem became apparent to me. You have entered the password ONCE. You need to enter the password in both fields: the one labeled “Password” and the one labeled “Password (repeat)”. The two passwords must match. When they do not the e-mail field is disabled which means it is not submitted in the form to the browser. The server then sees a super user ID (from the drop-down), no email address, a password, and no password confirmation. The server validates the fields in this order. First it checks for a super user ID. It exists, it is valid, okay. Then it checks for an email address. No email address specified; spits out an error and stops doing anything else.

I am 99.9999999% sure that you did NOT mean to enter a password there. Most likely your browser auto-filled that for you. Empty the password before clicking on Next.

Yep that did the trick, but what has changed in the new version?

Normally my browser filled in the password and I enter it to go ahead never got a problem with that.

Anyway thanks for helping me out, and let me solve my problem..

Greetz,

Appie
