I have been backing up this site for almost 2 years using a command line from cron on the same host. Recently I noticed that the scheduled backups were not occurring - the logs showed this:

Could not open input file: www/peaceactionme.org/public_html/cli/akeeba-backup.php. An examination of the directory showed no CLI files for akeeba backup (nor for admintools).

How can safely and easily restore the CLI files for both of these while minimizing any disruption or loss of information?

(I'm sure this is due to something dumb I've done during the process of upgrading from Joomla 3 to Joomla 4.)

thanks

Just wondering if it is legit to simply copy the CLI files from a different site or might that lead to problems?

Please read https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-joomla/migrate-j3-to-j4-info.html. There is a section called "CRON scripts". Please note the same information (in more condensed format, of course) is found in the Schedule Automatic Backups page of Akeeba Backup 9.

Thanks for the pointer. That worked as it should. Might I be so bold as to suggest that this change be somehow communicated in a less subtle way to those of us doing the upgrades? Something like the way you warn about the pending end of support for PHP 7, for example?  Or have you already done that and I missed it?

thank you for the rapid and concise reply.
