he website was redesigned by my admin. But now I want Akeebe in German. I can't find any way to change the language settings in the configuration. I can't find a plugin for the German language on your site either. What can you do that you can use Akeeba in German.

We discontinued official translations in August 2018. You can ask in your local Joomla! forums for any unofficial localisation initiatives in your language. I think that this German Joomla forum thread has some pointers on where you can find German translation files for Akeeba Backup 9.

That's too bad. Can one use the old language file or would there be problems with Joomla 4 or PHP 8?

I have another question, I want to change the Download ID. I can't find the option to change this anywhere in the new version. Where can I find the option to change the ID (i.e. not a new entry, a change)?

Akeeba Backup 9 for Joomla 4 has changed most of the language keys. The old language files will no longer work.

I want to change the Download ID. I can't find the option to change this anywhere in the new version. Where can I find the option to change the ID (i.e. not a new entry, a change)?

If you are talking about your site: Joomla 4 has a new feature called Download Keys which was modeled after our Download IDs. This is the new standard way to deal with the Download IDs. Go to System, Update Sites to manage the Download Keys of all your extensions. Please consult https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-joomla/update-dlid.html for more detailed information.

If you are talking about our site: nothing has changed ever since we introduced Add-on Download IDs nearly a decade ago. Log into our site and go to My Account, Add-on Download IDs on the top menu. You can add, remove, edit, publish/unpublish, or change Download IDs. The Main ID can only be changed. You can change any Download ID using the orange "refresh" button on the right hand column.

Thank you very much, I was able to change the ID. I still have to work on the language change. Greetings from Berlin/Germany
