The size of my site backed up in Akeeba is 513 Mg but in Joomlapack it is 188 Mg. This is with the
same directories and components backeded up and no directories excluded either time. Is this how it is
meant to be or am I missing something.

There are various configuration settings that can produce a larger or smaller backup archive, but that is a larger than expected size difference. You need to check the backup logs, something is backed up that shouldn't be in Akeeba or something is missing in JoomlaPack.
