Well this is a simple question..

I'm just about to move my site from A BAD HOSTING to Rochen (YAAAAAAHHH)

1. I use akeeba - to make the initall site with the DB and all the fies (Already done)
2. Just testing stuff out on the new server..
3. How do I just move the DB over to the new Rochen server.. I can't just do a Dump as its over 100meg.. is there a way to do that with akeeba.

for some reasone not ont his i'm using IE8 when the form gest lowerthand the right scrooler bar. wheni type it moves up and down.. VERY HADT to teype as when you typeit movethe screen up half way then down again each time you type a letter.. so you creally can't see what you tyeple this is why my words don't look correct. just to let you know..

Regarding the 100 Mb limit, I think we can get around it with the newer versions of Akeeba, they do the database dump in sections, similar to the logic of the split archive. I don't know when that feature can in, I'll have to check with Nicholas.

I don't know what is going on with Insecure Explorer. I haven't seen any other reports of the problem. Nicholas may have an idea of what it is reacting to on the site.

Not sure if you understand..

I already have all my files and DB on my new server.. and just want to backup my DB - and restore it with akeeba can i do this..

dlb
I do understand. But I read your message as the database dump is greater than the file size limit on your current server. The older versions of Akeeba dump the database in one chunk, the newer versions can dump in sections. You need the newer version, but I don't know exactly when the change was made.

If I'm wrong about the file size, all you need to do is a database only backup and import that to your new server via phpMyAdmin. You can do the database only by changing the profile on the Configuration page, or you can create a new profile for your Database only backup.

Akeeba Backup is able to backup databases of any size. The backup file includes both the database and the files. I don't understand how on Earth 100Mb could be "too big"? Rochen doesn't have a database or file size limit.

Now, if you have the site already set up on Rochen (as in Joomla! files, database, a working site) and you only want to transfer the database contents from the old site to the new site, you can use Akeeba Backup. Just create a all databases backup profile to create a ZIP file with the SQL file of your database. If necessary, use a split size for database dumps of 500Kb to not exceed your old host's file size limit. Then download it and join together all the .s* (.sql, .s01, .s02, etc) files. Upload it to your server and use bigdump.php from www.ozerov.de/bigdump.php to restore it.

Anyway, I recommend just taking and restoring a new backup. It's much easier and less error prone.
