After a "successful" installation, I'm getting the following error when I click on any Akeeba menu links:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in *my server path*/administrator/components/com_akeeba/akeeba/factory.php on line 33

Is there anything I did wrong or is this a bug? I'm running Joolma 1.5.17, it's a fresh install.

Thanks for your help,
Jeff

Jeff,

The problem is the php version. Akeeba won't run under php 4.

Thanks Dale - sorry for the stupid mistake - I really need to switch hosts once and for all. :)

Hey, you can throw me an easy question any time! :D

Many hosts offer more than one version of php. They tend to default to the older version, but you can choose a newer version through your host account or in .htaccess. If you check with them it may be an easy fix.
