I have a backup from a linux server and the new host has windows...the restore is not complete...any things that I should be aware of in this case...any special issues with joomla and windows?

Windows is more restrictive in it's file name rules than Linux. So you can have a legal file name in Linux and get a "can't write" error under Windows. Linux would consider an upper and a lower case file name as two separate files, in Windows the second one restored would overwrite the first. Table names can be subject to upper/lower case problems as well. All these things are very unusual. Some more information about the problem you're having may be helpful in pointing you towards a solution.
