I messed up my site and need to do a restore from yesterday's backup. Didn't work; got a message: Ajax loading error: Error. Log file is attached.

Thanks,
-jb

The log file didn't come through. If you are posting a backup log, it will be of limited use for a restore problem. There are some parts of kickstart 3.0 that are broken. If that is where you're getting the error, please try the latest Developer's Release. Otherwise, I need some more detail on the error you're getting.

Dale, You're asking questions I don't know the answer to. I tried doing a restore by selecting a backup and clicking the restore button. What other detail can I provide? -jb

Sorry, I was on the wrong page. I'm with you now. :) What version of Akeeba do you have installed? There was a problem with the internal restore in the early versions.

I'm running 3.0.b2. Thx, -jb

I need to check with Nicholas on this. I think you have run into a bug in that version of Akeeba. I think all we need to do is upgrade then we can do the restore (which will wipe out the upgrade :) ). Even if we can't fix it that way, we can still do a "normal" restore.

As Dale said, 3.0.b2 had some serious issues. You can do, however, something simple. Just copy the backup archive (and all of its parts, if it's a split archive) to your site's root. Then, download Kickstart 3.1 from our site, extract the ZIP archive and upload kickstart.php to your site's root. Finally, just access Kickstart from a browser (http://www.yoursite.com/kickstart.php) to extract the backup archive and restore your site.

Once the site is restored you MUST upgrade to the latest Akeeba Backup release (3.0 stable at the time of this writing).
