Im a joomla web designer and i have installed joomla and added the components and modules that i use the most and used akeeba to make a file i can restore to new sites to get up and running quickly.

Recently i had an issue with a component and had to have someone login to the site to help me fix it. One thing he said was it looked like the chmod settings were wrong, "looks like the site was unziped on the server" (which it was useing kickstart)

My quesiton is what should the chmod be? and is it diffent for files then for folders?

my search tuned up this posting http://www.akeebabackup.com/forum/12257/topic.html?p=1#p12266

So after restoring a site do i need to go into filezilla (ftp client) and change it or is there something i can do before i restore it?

Thanks
Kyle

Kickstart should leave the files and folders set at 755. Some people believe that folders should be 755 and files should be 644, but it really doesn't make much difference. Without knowing how they were set, I can't tell you if they have to be changed. :)

If you run into problems, we'll dig into the file ownership and get it beaten into submission. :)
