Using Akeeba Remote Control receiving "FTP Transport Error" message and backup archives are not downloaded. I have installed on 2 other domains and all is working great on those servers. I have compared parameters, versions & plugins and all appear to be the same. Please point me in the right direction. FTP connection Test is successful.

Some servers require a delay between the end of the backup and the beginning of the download. You can enter that on the Download page of the site setup, 30 seconds should be plenty of time. Most servers don't like "keep alive" or "force active mode" settings, but that should have shown up on your settings comparison.

If the delay doesn't fix it, please right click on your site in Remote and view the log file. You can save it to a text file and post it here. That will give some more information.

Darn, I tried that and it still returns the FTP Transport Error. I am attaching the log file. Thank you.

dlb
The log didn't come through, could you try again please?

Hopefully the log will be attached this time.

dlb
Can you just put it on your site and post a link?

That I can do.

That worked! :) Maybe I see the problem, the path to the backup files. Log into your site with your ftp client. Now navigate to the folder where your backups are stored. Your ftp program should give you the path on the remote connection. That is the path you need in Remote. Remote is actually acting as an ftp client at that point and needs to be able to find the backup file.

Unfortunately, I checked and the path is correct, simply "/backups". It is setup the same on the three other sites I now have working. There is always a problem "child". Any other ideas?

dlb
No more ideas. :( I'll flag this for Nicholas.

If the FTP path is correct, the only other reason for the backup file not being discovered is its permissions. Log in to your FTP server and navigate to the backups directory. Try downloading it. Does it download? If not, check the permissions of the file. If your see something like 0600 or 0700, your server is applying the wrong permissions on newly created files and it's highly unlikely that we can make it work.

If it does download, go back to your Remote Control settings. If you have checked the Active mode and/or Keep Alive settings, uncheck them and retry.

Ooops, looks like the backups were actually going to the Akeeba backup folder. I have changed the settings & installed the new 3.0.1 version and all is working now!

I'm glad it's now resolved :) Keeping track of all those settings, folders and path mapping is confusing. I always have to take a look with FileZilla to get the settings right on my own sites!
