I installed SVN192 pro to a site that had been operating with 3.0 Pro. After installation all backups went into an endless loop in the Initialize Backup step creating endless temp files and empty archives in the backup folder.

I have two other sites on the same host running SVN192 pro (all sites with the same Joomla! version) and I used the same browser. The other sites did not suffer the hang up on initializing.

After reading other posts in the support forum suggesting script or browser issues, I emptied the browser cache. This solved the problem! (I assume the browser was using a cached script from the previous version).

My recommendation is to clear out browser cache when upgrading versions.

I don't think that would be related to the SVN version, but I'll flag it for Nicholas anyway.

Your assumption is 100% accurate, David! This is true with all Joomla! extension updates. Your browser is caching the old copy of the Javascript files. In order for the upgrade to work properly, you need to do a forced page reload (hold SHIFT and click on the reload icon) to make sure that your browser fetches the latest scripts from the server. Notably, Chrome doesn't have this issue! Every time a redirect occurs, such as after the installation of a Joomla! extension, it automatically flushes its cache for this site.
