On a clean installation of com_akeeba-3.0-core.zip, I am getting the error
* It was not possible to copy the selected file.
* JInstaller::install: Failed to copy file: /home/mjblyth/public_html/jointproject/tmp/install_4c5682c89fd93/media/js to /home/mjblyth/public_html/jointproject/media/com_akeeba/js

I have successfully installed Akeeba in other sites on the same server. I have tried setting permissions on media to 775 and 777 but that does not help. I can copy media/com_akeeba from another installation, so I know I have disk space, but just copying the folder doesn't make the installation run. Any ideas?

The first thing to try is a manual installation. That won't help if the problem is permissions, but 775 and 777 should eliminate that possibility.
