Hi Brian,

Um... "latest" is not a meaningful version number :) It can either mean 3.2.7 (the latest stable) or 3.3.a3 (the latest alpha). However, you're lucky on this one because I haven't made any changes to the JPA between those releases.

Please try using the latest dev release of Kickstart. Make sure that the server does have the gzip PHP extension installed - the lack of it is the most frequent cause of this error message. I assume that the server also uses PHP 5.3.5, right?

If this doesn't work and there's no pressing deadline, please send me a PM with the URL to this site and FTP/SFTP connection details so that I can try debugging it directly on the server.

oops sorry its Akeeba Backup 3.3.a3

The server is using PHP Version 5.3.3-1ubuntu9.5

phar gzip compression enabled was that what you meant?

Unfortunately the sever is firewalled so I cant give you access.

I'm going to try with a zip instead of a jpa

ZIP's a good alternative. If all else fails, well, you have to go through the scenic route, extracting locally and letting the files upload while you get a good night's sleep :(

It's very strange that this happens. My local Ubuntu 10.10 box doesn't do that.

Crazy thought: does PHP run as a CGI module on anything else than Apache?

Hi Brian,

Sorry for the late reply. It wasn't really a good day yesterday for me to reply to anything :(

I checked again with my Ubuntu 10.10 box. It seems that the Suhosin patch is installed by default on all default PHP installations of Ubuntu. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the problems you have with Kickstart.
