Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I read the related troubleshooter articles above before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting (which pages?)? Yes
Joomla! version: (1.5.23)
PHP version: (5.2.14)
MySQL version: (5.1.49)
Host: (Hosted Internally)
Akeeba Backup version: (3.3.6)

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue.

Description of my issue:

Since the last upgrade to version 3.3.6, whenever anyone tries to login to the Joomla admin area, the screen hangs for 5 to 10 minutes. If I refresh that page after that time, I'm immediately taken to the Joomla administrator control panel.

This is urgent because it's preventing administrators and content editors in various departments from being able to do their jobs effectively.

Let's see if it's something caused by Akeeba Backup, or something different. Try disabling the following, in this order, and check if you can login normally after each change:
- The "Akeeba Backup Notification Module" administrator module
- The "System - System Restore Points" plugin
- The "System - Akeeba Backup Update Check" plugin
- The "System - One Click Action" plugin

Please let me know if disabling one of them (and which one of them) resolves the issue.

Ok thanks, I'm testing those out now. I'll let you know what I find.

It's possible it may be related to Admin Tools as well, because I updated that component around the same time as Akeeba Backup.

I disabled the module and plugins in that order, and I'm still experiencing the issue. Is it possible it might be related to Admin Tools? Should I create a thread there?

user11267
I temporarily solved the issue. I received a Joomla alert within the control panel that said "PHPMailer_From_Failedemailaddress@the domaininquestion.com"

I realized it wasn't Akeeba Backup that caused the issue. It was instead, Admin Tools trying to send out email notification alerts regarding successful/failed administrator logins. That was failing for some reason. When I disabled that feature in the "Configure WAF" area of Admin Tools, the issue resolved itself. I'll research on my end, why these emails started failing suddenly.

Thanks for the usual quick response Nicholas. Much appreciated.

This actually does make sense and I would argue that this also means that you have a serious issue with your site. Your site's e-mail From address (as defined in your site's Global Configuration) is not accepted. This means that every time your site tries to send out an email, it hangs forever. I'd say that this is something you need to fix very soon.
