I want a restricted group of users (we will manage the ACL) to get acces to a menu item which will contain a view with a button calling to the exectuion of a certain Akeeba Backup Pro profile.

We know how to use and actually we do use CRON JOBS with akeeba.

In this case we want a certain user to run a profile for .sql only backup form the frontend whenever he feels necessary to create that backup.

How can we manage this?

Hello,

I'm sorry but you can't do that. First of all, frontend backups are meant to be triggered by a script like WGET, cURL or a third party service.
That's because after about 20 redirects your browser will stop following them, halting the backup.

The only solution would be triggering a backup using the browser interface, but you need to have access to the backend.
