I am using: Akeeba Backup for WordPress Pro, 1.3.0

Function: Import Archives

After uploading the backup (.jpa file) I made of a wordpress site (same wp-version, same akeeba) on another host, this akeeba cannot read in the ".jpa" file.

filename:
site-www.ig-kultur-wil.ch-20150505-142333.jpa

directory:
/home/createdi/www/ig-kultur-wil.ch/wp-content/plugins/akeebabackupwp-zip-36.raw_/app/backups

Error message:
There are no archive files to import in the selected directory. Please go back and select another directory.

Permissions:
site-www.ig-kultur-wil.ch-20150505-142333.jpa -rwxr-xr-x

I can chose whatever directory I want, the function " Import Archives " does not read the file.

Please help.

There are two answers to your question.
  1. In order to import a backup archive, the archive must be located in the Output folder as defined in the current backup profile. This is the folder where Akeeba would have put the backup if it was native to this installation of WordPress.
  2. You do not need to install WordPress on your target server or import the archive. You can simply extract the archive with Kickstart and restore your backup from there. You do not need a working WordPress to restore your backup.
