Hi Overthere,

when checking my last backups I noticed that file permission are set to 666 instead of 644 as before.

After contacting webhosters support they pushed me in your direction and I noticed there's a post for ABfJ regarding the same question: https://www.akeeba.com/support/akeeba-backup-3x/Ticket/34630:file-permissions-666.html

I assume that it's the same for ABfWP?

Update: ABfWP is 7.5.5.1 Pro

This is correct. We made permissions an option and changed the default to 0666 to allow maximum compatibility across different server setups by default. You can edit the backup profile and change the permissions to 0644 (old default) or even 0600 if your server is correctly configured to have the same effective PHP user as the hosting user account (which is in turn the same as the FTP/SFTP user).

Unfortunately that's one thing that cannot be automatically detected, otherwise we'd choose the most restrictive setting compatible with your server automatically.

Hi Nic,

thx for following up so fast. Yeah, had thought so.

Could you change the state of the ticket from private to public, so others may get the answer too?

All the best,

Ralf

I'm looking for the option setting but couldn't find in ABfWP 7.5.5.1 nor ABfJ 8.0.2 . Am I just blind or is it goin' to be added in a future release?

I promise it's there since Akeeba Backup for Joomla 8.0.0 and Akeeba Backup for WordPress 7.5.5.

Go to Akeeba Backup, select your backup profile, click on Configuration.

Scroll down to find the Archiver engine row. Click on β€œConfigure...” next to it.

Change the Archive permissions setting.

See the screenshot below. The setting in question is the third from the bottom in my screenshot.
