Each time a backup is done, I get 3 or 4 lines with the following text.

Undefined property: stdClass::$response in /home/jsingcpa/public_html/wp-content/plugins/akeebabackupwp/helpers/AkeebaBackupWPUpdater.php on line 150

Any idea why this happens and how I can fix it so it doesn't flood my log?

This is a known PHP notice that was fixed in Akeeba Backup for WordPress 9.1.3. It is a low-severity, cosmetic issue — the notices flood the log but do not affect backup functionality.

Please update to version 9.1.3 or later from your WordPress dashboard (Plugins → Updates), or download it from our Downloads page. Once updated, these notices will no longer appear.
