For some time I have not been able to restore backups made with Akeeba Solo. Today I researched the matter in detail. The database restore fails on a particular function. As a test, I removed the comments and created a new backup which I am able to restore.
This is a significant issue for us as commenting MySQL Functions and Stored Procedures is an important part of our development practices.

Thank you.

This has already been fixed in Akeeba Solo 2.0.4. From the changelog:
# [MEDIUM] Error restoring procedures, functions or triggers originally defined with inline MySQL comments

The comments do get dropped, however due to restrictions regarding SQL parsing with PHP. If we included comments we wouldn't be able to correctly chunk the import process which would lead to timeout issues.

Since you need to keep the comments I suggest backing up your functions and procedures separately. This can be achieved by excluding them from the backup and using a third party tool (e.g. mysqldump) to export them.
