Hallo. Further to Ticket #23162, I have been testing nested Categories as suggested:
- Account queries
- Group 1 AC q
- Group 2 AC q
- Technical queries
- Group 1 Tech q
- Group 2 Tech q

The nested Categories show for the right Access Levels but also the Top Category. So for example, using the above, if I test with a customer in Group 1, he will see:

- Account queries
- Group 1 AC q
- Technical queries
- Group 1 Tech q

I am trying to work out how to achieve:
- Group 1 AC q
- Group 1 Tech q

Is this possible? Do I need to have the Top Categories as a Hidden Menu Item?

And supplementary - I also have installed ACL Manager. If I set permissions in here for the ATS Component, is this as "valid" as setting within ATS itself - it is a little easier for me to visualise.

Many thanks

Hello Mike

  1. I'm sorry but you can't: hiding the parent will hide all of his children, too
  2. Yes, they will be valid: ACL manager is editing the global ACL rules, thus every change you do there will be applied everywhere

Thanks for your reply and clarification on ACL.
So there is no way, when using nested categories, to avoid showing the not-used top category to users?

You can try to hide them using CSS, but I don't know if there a way to correctly select them

OK, that's fine, thank you.
