Hi guys,

I've tried setting up CMS Update to do automatic updates via CRON. The Joomla version I'm testing on is 2.5.17, so I've set the component to check for LTS releases, and set my CRON up as per the documentation.

I know it's in Alpha, but should I expect it to work for Joomla 2.5 ?

Any help would be appreciated, and please let me know if you need any more information to debug.

Just a quick one to let you know that the automatic update via CRON is working perfectly now, so thank you for that! :)

Any idea when this component will be made available for production websites? We are very interested in using it!

Great! Thank you for the feedback :)

I still don't have an ETA for the formal stable release. Right now there are a few high-end features missing such as a front-end CRON job to handle automated updates, support for third party extensions' pre- and post-installation hooks... that sort of things. Building them mostly depends on my available time. I expect to be able to build them over the following 2-3 months and release a stable version. Then I'll have to make a proposal for inclusion in Joomla! and... all bets are off. I can't say for sure if it will remain a separate product or it will be included in Joomla! itself (like Admin Tools' Joomla! update feature was included in Joomla! as the "Joomla! Update" component).
