Hello to everybody!

I'm recent user of fantastic "Akeeba backup", but today i had a problem during extraction with kickstart.php, display this prompt:

"The file /home/XXXXXX/domains/XXXXXX.joomlafree.it/public_html/installation/css/img/busy.gif is not writable."

What should i do? I tried to create the folder "/installation/css/img" not present in my root, but does not work... :(

The error is lying to you. :) Kickstart uses the root of the site for a temporary location before the files are moved to where they actually belong. It can't write in the root. You can loosen the root folder settings to 755, that may solve it. Generally when this happens, kickstart's ftp mode is going to work best.

Another new user here too!

How about if the error is "Could not open /var/www/vhosts/{VPS domain}/httpdocs/{subfolder}/installation/css/img/busy.gif for writing."?

Also, I'm trying to install the backup in a subfolder on a VPS host.

Thanks!

EDIT(Additional info):
Also, will having different owner/groups affect the backup restoration? For example, the backup file was archived with the files under apacheowner1/apachegroup1 as a owner/group combination. But on the server where the restoration will take place there is a different set of owner/group, say apacheowner2/apachegroup2.

All you have to do is use the FTP mode of Kickstart. The user and group on the site you backed up from don't matter. What matters is the ownership & permissions of the new site's root and the user under which Apache runs. Since on most hosts they are different you have to use the FTP mode to restore your site.
