I have 4 backup sets and none of the extracts properly on my desktop. All files are JPA type. It is hard to believe all of the are corrupted, as I downloaded those files manually through FTP. I wonder if I need an older Extraction Utility, because (due to inability to use Akeba Backup) I had to stick to older Joomla Pack version.

On all files I get error: could not read data from the archive. and the extraction stop somewhere around 30-40%.

Any ideas ?

JoomlaPack JPA archives are not compatible with the current version of the extraction utilities. You will need an older version of Kickstart (something in the 2.3 to 2.4.1 range) to extract these archives.

It's no longer supported, but you may find the very (VERY!) old version of the application in our old SourceForge file repository.

I created another backup set excluding some folders and I was able to extract it with no problems. Is there any size limitation ? The previous file I had problem with was 2.14 Gb, the one I extracted without problems was only around 0.3 Gb

PS>
can JoomlaPack and AKEBA backup coexist on the same system ?

All versions of PHP except those running on 64-bit Linux machines have a hard limitation of 2Gb per file. You must use the "Part size for archive splitting" to automatically split your backup archive to smaller files. Alternatively, just run the Configuration Wizard and it will automatically handle that for you.

Yes, Akeeba Backup and JoomlaPack can co-exist on the same system as long that
a. they share the same output directory, or
b. you mutually exclude their output directories, i.e. exclude JP's output directory in Akeeba Backup and AB's output directory in JoomlaPack.

ok, perhaps that's why it failed. Is there any way to increase the limit ?

That's a hard limit. PHP's internal representation of integers on these platforms is an unsigned 32-bit integer. This means that the file sizes can go up to 2Gb minus 1 byte before PHP starts handling file pointers as floating point numbers. At this point hell breaks loose.

As I said, there is a workaround. Let me quote myself:
You must use the "Part size for archive splitting" to automatically split your backup archive to smaller files. Alternatively, just run the Configuration Wizard and it will automatically handle that for you.

It's as simple as that and it's already in the Backup Now documentation section, under the self-explanatory sub-section title "Troubleshooting".
