Hi there,

4.0.3 is reporting a few errors sorry. A couple of sites (sites 2 and 3) seem to just freeze. Also, in some cases, I'm getting three emails saying the same thing, backup successful. The backups do seems to be downloaded, but the error messages are a worry. :-(

With the emails, site 1 gives me three emails saying " Akeeba Backup has completed backing up your site using the front-end backup feature. You may visit the site's administrator section to download the backup. The new backup was taken with profile #1. It consists of 31 part(s). The full list of files of this backup set is the following..."

Site 2, just the one email, site 3 again just one, site 4 gives three, site 5 none at all, and site 6 gives just one.

I've attached graphics and logs in a zip. The websites I've called one from the top to six at the bottom. No logs for sites 2 or 3 as I had to restart the prgramme.

Hope this makes sense. Somehow!!

Do Sites 1 and 4 have more than one Super Administrator? Have you enabled the email feature on Site 5? The two sites showing download errors, do you have any post-processing running on them, like sending the files to Amazon S3, DropBox, remote FTP or email? Are all the sites on the same server? The sites with the other issues, are you able to back them up using the backend?

Hi again,

"Do Sites 1 and 4 have more than one Super Administrator?"

Yes, two super admins, but they all have two.

"Have you enabled the email feature on Site 5?"

Yes, email notification is enabled in Akeeba Backup's component parameters.

"The two sites showing download errors, do you have any post-processing running on them, like sending the files to Amazon S3, DropBox, remote FTP or email?"

No, not on any of the profiles that Remote is calling. 'Data-processing engine' is set to 'No post-processing'. However, all my websites use a cron with a different profile. This runs a few hours later and is successfully sending a backup to Dropbox.

Are all the sites on the same server?

Yes they are.

The sites with the other issues, are you able to back them up using the backend?

Yes, all of the sites can be backed up via the backend using the profile that remote is using.

Hope this helps. I'll update to the new version and see what happens.

Since all sites run on the same server, do not try to run more than 1 or 2 concurrent backups. Otherwise your server's overload protection kicks in and causes all the problems you mentioned. Try running one backup at a time and also wait for the downloads to complete. Does that solve your issues?

Hi there,

I've tried adding hour long intervals, and now just running one. Sometimes success, sometimes not.

The latest try, with just the one website, gave the error in the screenshot, and the log is attached.

Yesterday the backup for this website worked; yesterday's files are in the folder on the server and copies of those in a folder on my desktop. Today, no files and a message saying space/permission errors.

Hope this makes sense somehow! Thanks for your work.

That error message comes from the Akeeba Backup component, not Remote Control. It means that, as it reads, your site ran out of disk space.

Since the "Delete files after backup" feature of ARC seems to be broken at the moment, my educated guess is that the backup indeed fails because all the old backup archives are still stored on the server, taking up a lot of space. Try logging in to your site and removing old backups. Normally, that should work.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.

My cpanel shows 4993.6MB used (I had already deleted old zips), but it's a Hostagtor baby croc account, which is advertised as unlimited, so storage shouldn't be a problem therefore I guess.

And an update... thought I'd check the Backup manager. Saw the failed backup, and another version of the same, but successful!! See screenshot.

Looked again at the server's backup folder and a new set of files had appeared (wasn't there before).

Still no download to the desktop though, and Remote still had the same error. Hmmmm.

And also...

Just noticed, I exited Remote, but it still shows as running in Task Manager, and it is working, despite an empty tray. See screenshot.

Please try taking a backup from Akeeba Backup's back-end and tell me if it works. There is no such thing as "unlimited" space. Not only hard disks are of finite capacity, they're also expensive. I don't know anyone who'd buy you a datacenter full of hard drives for just a couple dollars per month ;) Let's be sure that the backup works from the back-end before trying to solve an inexistent problem.

Hi N. Good answer :-)

I got an error window about system resources, but I think that is from my desktop, although I should have plenty. But the backup completed just fine to my server folder and is marked as OK in the manager. Screenshot

Hi, the error message was nothing afaik, from a minor programme on my pc.

Try shutting down some applications on your PC. I think it's close to collapsing :) Then, try a remote backup again.

If that still fails make sure that:
- You have ARC 4.0.4
- You have Akeeba Backup 3.2
- You are using the exact same backup profile in ARC and your back-end backup tests
