Just upgraded to Remote Control 4.03 (on XP SP3) was working fine until I added an additional backup profile.

I came back this afternoon to find multiple email notifications and the same backup job which was scheduled for a monthly backup continously backing up, and had backed up the same profile 17 times!

Clicking on cancel would not work, exiting the program and restarting it would not work, it just kept starting and downloading the same bakcup profile!

I eventually just turned of front-end access and have shutdown remote control as I obviously cant trust it at the moment.

Would really appreciate advice on this, as I would really like to start using the new version.

Thanks,

Dean

That sounds like a problem in the component side. Which version of the component are you using?

I'm using the latest version 3.2 stable.

not sure if this is the same situation to you, but after setting up the remote backups for multiple sites, I found that when I uninstalled the old akeeba backup and replaced with the new one downloaded from the website - it worked OK.

1 of the sites I saw that there was an upgrade to 3.2 button so i clicked it - seemed to upgrade fine but then I experienced the same issue - monthly schedule - multiple downloads - killed my site size limit very quickly.

I will have to try uninstalling and re-installing fresh to see if this fixes the problem on the site.

no luck - reinstall fresh just like other sites and I now too have the same problem of constantly downloading backups - I have removed it from Remote and will have to go back to the manual way.

Can you post the log file of Remote Control for any of those misbehaving sites?

Yes, ecactly as you said, using Remote for backing up multiple sites. I have daily/weekly, and monthly backups of different sites.

The one that was stuck in a backup loop was a monthly backup site.

Copies of backend, JSON and Remote API logs.

The Akeeba Backup log files don't shed any light. It all looks normal :s After trying a backup which never ends, cancel it and click on the View Log button in Remote Control itself. Then save that log and post it here. They should shed some light.

Hi Nicholas,

Thanks for looking at the log files. I will do as you ask and try again, but as per my previous post, the Remote Control App would not cancel. The only way I could find to stop the backup was to turn of front-end access from the Joomla site.

Dean

Nicholas,

Enabled remote backup on the site, ran the Remote Control and looping again exactly the same as before.

Problem is that I cant cancel, and if I quit the application, the log only shows from when the application is restarted!

I have enclosed the log file but it isnt going to tell you much (the access denied is when I turned off front-end access).

Any other ways to troubleshoot?

Regards,

Dean

Unfortunately, it doesn't help at all :( I suspect something, though. Are you using any post-processing engines in Akeeba Backup's Configuration page? Moreover, which archiver engine are you using?

Sorry for the numerous posts asking for information. I am flying in the dark. Thank you very much for your excellent feedback so far!
