Mandatory information about my setup:

Have I searched the forum before posting? Yes
Have I read the Troubleshooting Wizard before posting? Yes
Have I read the documentation before posting? Yes
Joomla! version: 1.5.23
PHP version: 5.2.9
MySQL version: 5.0.92-community
Host: UK2
Akeeba version: 3.2.7
Remote Control version: 4.0.8

Description of my issue:

Hi,

I've read the quickstart and installed the software without a problem. I type in the Site name, URL and Secret Key, then click on Get Profiles, but get the error as per the attached jpg. The site is going to be an Intranet so you have to login to view anything - could this be the problem? The site is www.drb-holding4.co.uk.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks,

Dave.

You are most likely using an old version of sh404SEF or another SEF component on your site. In the case of sh4040SEF please upgrade to the latest version which solves this issue. For other SEF components, please consult their documentation for instructions on disabling SEF URLs for Akeeba Backup (component name: com_akeeba), as they're interfering with the correct operation of the remote backup feature.

Hi Nicholas,

Thank-you for taking the time to reply. I've got Core SEF enabled on the system, but no other SEF components.

Is there anything else it could be?

Thanks again,

Dave.

Is your site accessible only to registered users? If so, you can't use Remote Control with it.

Yes it is - what a shame! Oh well, I've got several other sites it will work perfectly well on.

Thanks again for your reply and I hope this functionality might be considered in a future release.

Best wishes,

Dave.

It's not that I don't want to do that, it's that Joomla! won't let you do that. The only workaround would be for me to use a raw view, but some crappy plugins don't want to work with that. If I fix one, the other will break. The most popular bugfix wins and it's the one working around badly coded system plugins, sorry :(
