Hi!

You can try two things:

1. Make sure the "Ignore most errors" checkbox is checked when starting the extraction.

2. If all else fails, Kickstart is the solution, really. Kickstart is an archive extraction script which is mostly abused as a means of backup restoration :) All you have to do is to install a local server environment (e.g. XAMPP, MAMP, WAMPServer, Uniform Server, Zend Server CE, etc), put the backup archive inside the web root directory of your local server along with kickstart.php and launch Kickstart. That's all there is to it.

If neither of the above helps, you have a genuinely corrupt archive. In that case, please make sure that you have downloaded the backup archive using FTP in binary transfer mode and that all of the archive parts (e.g. .j01, j02, etc), if any.

Please let me know how it went and in case of a persisting issue, please tell me so that I can think of any other way to help you.

Akeeba Extract Wizard does't work anymore. Says "invalid archive!
Not true. I tested it with different archives I extracted in the past. I get this error!

Extract Wizard creates a duplicate directory of the directory I selected as the directory to extract the files to. Example: I choose the directory "website" and Wizard creates a new directory "???website" and then I get the error message!

Could you please check that?
I have been working with Akeeba Extract Wizard up to version 3.0.4. Now I downloaded version 3.3 and I'm stuck. The same is with version 3.2.

Hi!

I will need some more information:
1 - Exact Akeeba Backup version (e.g. Professional 3.3.5 - "latest" is not exact)
2 - Which archive type are you using (JPA, JPS, ZIP or ZIP using ZipArchive)?
3 - How big is your archive? I will need the size shown in the Administer Backup Files page.
4 - Are you using a "Part size for archive splitting" (Akeeba Backup's Configuration page, click the Configure button next to the Archive Engine)? If so, what is the setting, e.g. 2048Mb.
5 - How many parts of your backup archive have you downloaded to your PC? Does the total size of them correspond to the size determined in item #3 above?
6 - How did you download the backup archives? Did you use the link in Administer Backup Files? Or did you use FTP? If using FTP, which programme did you use? Have you enabled the Binary transfer mode as explained in Quick Start Guide and our video tutorial?
7 - Do you have any files with non-ASCII characters in your backup archive, e.g. accented, cyrillic, greek, chinese or other such characters?
8 - Do you get this error message immediately or after a few files have been extracted? I didn't get that point in your original request.
9 - Can these files be extracted by Kickstart on your local testing web server, installed on your PC? If not, can they be restored on a live site?

Sorry, I had a corrupted archives!
After checking this along your list of possible errors I could see that the total size didn't coreespond and was incorrect. It did work on other archives not corrupted.
