 I downloaded a 3.0 template, installed Admin Tool, and Akeebabackup, attempted to insert the download ID in both applications. The ID does not execute the application. No save, nor save or close, nor cancel. Its like the software is frozen when trying to input ID. What would you advise.

Please note that you are entering the Download ID in the component's Options page. This page is not generated or handled by code we have written ourselves. It is handled by Joomla!'s own com_config component. Therefore, this is a Joomla! issue. We can try to help you, but if you get stuck you'll have to seek assistance in the Joomla! forums. In fact, you will find out that this problem is not specific to the Options page of Akeeba Backup but spans the Options pages of every installed component, even core ones. For example, go to Users and click Options, then click on Save or Save & Close. The same issue occurs.

In most cases logging out of your site, clearing the browser cache and cookies (IMPORTANT!) and logging back in is enough to get past this issue.

If the above helps, please note that it is being caused by stale Javascript being cached by your browser after a Joomla! update / upgrade. We have already expressed our concern to the Joomla! project and even suggested a simple solution (the same we are using for our own software): append a query string parameter which changes every time you update Joomla!. So far the Joomla! project has done nothing about it :(
