I have been using Akeeba Backup Pro for Joomla and find it fantastic! I now want to backup several Moodle sites, would you recommend Akeeba Solo for this?
Do you have any instructions?
Would I need to install it on the Moodle site itself?
Are there any problems I need to look out for?
Any help you can offer on backing up Moodle sites would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hello Margaret,

We have some clients who have used Akeeba Backup and Akeeba Solo to back up Moodle installations and told us it works just fine.

Please note that since there is no specific integration for Moodle you can only restore on the same server and location you backed up from (unlike, say, a Joomla! backup which can be restored anywhere). If you choose to restore your Moodle installation to a different server / location you'll have to edit its configuration file manually.

Regarding the installation, Akeeba Solo is a standalone PHP application. You will just install it in a subdirectory of your Moodle site. It can share the same database as your Moodle site without a problem: Akeeba Solo uses its own prefix for its tables to make sure that it doesn't conflict with any other web application installed on the same server.
