 Hi

I already own Akeeba Backup Pro and Admin Tools Prof for Joomla. I want to get a copy of the WP backup. Is there any discount as a current user? Not that E40 is expensive... :-) Thanks.

If you try to purchase it while logged in to our site you will see that you get an automatic 40% discount. This is a discount we give to everyone who already has a subscription to another backup product.

Did anyone ever mention you're the bomb! Thanks so much Nicholas.

On a side note, was in a chat session about Joomla subscriptions components and payment gateways etc. I was pushing your component as I believe in you as a programmer so have no doubt it's great like all your other work.

The way the comment about "no support" is worded it could be read (and was in this particular chat) to mean that there's no ticket type support, but that it's neglected and not updated. I tried pointing out that it is kept up to date, just that there's no written support (except for the dox). I think I'm right in what I argued!!

If I am, maybe a subtle change to how the blue box about support is worded to say it's actively maintained just not supported - if you want! :-)

Cheers!!

It is intentionally worded like that. Previously there was more mild wording which said that even though it's still being developed no support will be provided. I was receiving a dozen emails every single week demanding support. When I was explaining that we no longer offer support people would tell me that since I am maintaining the code I am somehow, for some reason they can only find in their pathetic existence, obliged to provide them free support, or else... At this point I removed the Joomla! Extensions Directory listing, stopped offering installable ZIP packages from our main download page (they are still built and available either from the update feature or if you know how to navigate the entire download repository using the teeny tiny link at the top of the main downloads page), made the wording very strong and simply linked the downloads link to the GitHub repository.

I can understand people not reading the big, fat, ugly notice that there's no support. I cannot understand people demanding me to spend my time, for free, to help them with something I've spent my time, for free, to develop and document, something they will be making money from. Something they are anyway not willing to pay more than $2 per hour to get help with (yes, I had a discussion with one of those jerks), expecting me to actually build and run his site and give him marketing advice.

So, there you have it. If people think that I've ditched Akeeba Subscriptions it's cool with me. The people who should know that I haven't ditched it (developers who contribute patches / features and high-end users who can use the software just by reading the documentation) already know that I haven't. I want to only keep these people, who are a joy to work with. I don't work the generic, half-brained, outsourced site integrator who demands from me to build their site for pennies. I hope that makes sense :)
