Hi Nicholas,

Is it possible to exclude unused items from a backup? We are trying to clear out old stuff from the server and although I have a script that compares graphics with the code calling those graphics, it does not work on a Joomla site...

If you had some software that enabled us to package up the site and relaunch it without all the clutter (much as you can with print layout applications like InDesign) I would gladly buy it!

Many thanks,
Mark.

Hello Mark,

You can exclude whatever you want from a backup using the "Files and Directories Exclusion" and the "Database Table Exclusion" features of Akeeba Backup.

It's impossible to magically know what you don't use, especially since the meaning of "don't use" is extremely open ended.
