After installing AKEEBA Engage, and setting the different options, everything is working fine, except the possibility to enter text for a comment.

Strangely enough, entering text as a superuser works fine!

It does not work for Public, Guest nor Registered.

I use JCE Pro as editor.

URL of document: https://test.filosofenfontein.be/filosofenfontein-archief/archief-vieringen/recente-vieringen/220612 Feel free to test for yourselves!

The link is at the bottom of the page. One can enter name, mail address, accept the Privacy poly, but the text box is not accessible. Obviously, it returns an error message.

I must be doing one little detail wrong I'm afraid.

Thanks!

You just need to configure JCE. Please read the documentation page I have written on the subject: https://github.com/akeeba/engage/wiki/Setting-up-your-HTML-editor#jce

I have been able to enter text for one article, but for another article, in a different category, I cannot get it to work. I have been using identical settings.

In one article, the comments show nicely at the bottom of the article. (screen shot attached). In the other article (with an iFrame picture from Google maps), the link is displayed on top of the article, and the link does not open a text box. (See screen shot, with a red rectangle around the message)

I am at a loss what I do wrong.

My guess would be a JavaScript error thrown by something on the page.

I have moved the iFrame to the category, to avoid a conflict; but it didn't solve the problem.

I am not savvy enough to diagnose the Java problem, and also couldn't find how to set the module position on Helix Ultimate. Funny that it works in one category, and not in the other...

I attach the screen shot for clarity. There are 2 questions:

  1. How to get the comment box at the bottom of the article?
  2. How to get the comment box to really open in JCE, as in the other category?

Thanks!

I obviously cannot troubleshoot JavaScript issues from a screenshot.

> How to get the comment box at the bottom of the article?

Reorder your content plugins.

> How to get the comment box to really open in JCE, as in the other category?

This question does not make sense. I already told you that your problem is a JavaScript problem. You can keep asking me but the nature of your issue won't change.

Hello,

I am sorry to have the same problem again:

I use JCE Pro as editor. I have set up a profile "Public User" as suggested in the earlier response. https://github.com/akeeba/engage/wiki/Setting-up-your-HTML-editor#jce

URL of document: https://filosofenfontein.be/gemeenschap/agora/waarom-wij-op-3-december-meedoen-aan-de-klimaatmars?lang=*#akengage-comments-section

The link works at the bottom of the page. I have entered a comment from my superuser account without any problems. There the JCE window opens directly, exactly as stated in the documentation.

As a guest, I can enter name, mail address, but the text box is not show but not accessible. Obviously, it returns an error message. I am at a los what the problem is this time. The page does not use iFrame nor Java.

This is exactly the behaviour described in the documentation "IMPORTANT. By default, JCE comes without any profile for Guest and Registered users. This means that your site's visitors will see an empty box instead of an editor, making it impossible to submit a new comment or reply to one."

Thanks for the help!

Akeeba Engage does not have its own editor. It uses whichever editor is configured for your site. Akeeba Engage does not use its own code to display the editor. It uses the standard Joomla! editor API to ask Joomla to please display the editor. As a result, Akeeba Engage – like all third party extensions using the Joomla editor API – has absolutely no say whatsoever on the configuration of the editor and / or its operation.

Your problem IS NOT a problem with Akeeba Engage, it is a configuration problem with JCE Pro. Since you do have a subscription to JCE Pro, please do ask its developer to help you. In the end of the day you want to display an editor for non-logged-in (Guest) users. Ryan should be able to help you very easily. Also for what it's worth, I am absolutely certain that your problem is a configuration one because my development site does use JCE Pro and I sure as heck see an editor when I visit it as a guest. So, please, just ask JCE for support.
