 Hi,
I updated from Joomla3 to Joomla4 and wanted to make a backup.

When I want to start Akkeba, the following Message appers:

🚨 Please complete your migration to Akeeba Backup 9 🚨

Please click on Components, Akeeba Backup for Joomla!™, Control Panel to open Akeeba Backup 9's interface.

Follow the instructions shown in Akeeba Backup 9 to migrate your settings and backups from Akeeba Backup 8 to Akeeba Backup 9.

After you are done migrating please uninstall Akeeba Backup 8.

In the Control Panel I have to klick to the "Migrate Settings" Button and when it's done I receive the follow message:

 Migration requirements are not met

We have not detected a compatible version of Akeeba Backup. If you try to run the migration now you may experience errors and / or data loss. Do not proceed unless you have been explicitly instructed to do so by our developers. Ignore this stern warning at your own risk and peril!

What should I do now?

Thanks

Hi Nicholas,
that was exactly that what i did.

This is the first schreen - Menu "Akeeba Backup":

Please complete your migration to Akeeba Backup 9 🚨

Please click on Components, Akeeba Backup for Joomla!™, Control Panel to open Akeeba Backup 9's interface.

Follow the instructions shown in Akeeba Backup 9 to migrate your settings and backups from Akeeba Backup 8 to Akeeba Backup 9.

After you are done migrating please uninstall Akeeba Backup 8.

Then I switch to the mentioned  Akeeba Backup for Joomla!™, Control Panel and I see this

Migrate your settings from an older Akeeba Backup version

We detected that you have an older version of Akeeba Backup installed on your site. Click the button below to attempt an automatic import of your settings, backup history and backup archives stored in the default backup output directory. Please read the documentation carefully to understand the risks and limitations of this operation.

After klicking the Button "Migrate settings"

this message appears:

 Migration requirements are not met

We have not detected a compatible version of Akeeba Backup. If you try to run the migration now you may experience errors and / or data loss. Do not proceed unless you have been explicitly instructed to do so by our developers. Ignore this stern warning at your own risk and peril!

It's now possible to proceed with the migration, but is that really a good idea?
If not, what is the problem here? I come from an update (joomla3 to 4), akeeba  backup 8 within. Then I go to my admin screen in joomla and try to access to my backups I made before the joomla update...

Before the migration runs we check the #__extensions table for the record which belongs to Akeeba Backup 8 and earlier, i..e the record where type = component and element = com_akeeba. We read the cached manifest JSON string from the manifest_cache field and read its creationDate and version. The creationDate must have a year after 2020 and the version must be 7.0.0 or later.

You have one of the following problems:

  • You, Joomla, or a third party extensions have messed up your database and this record does not exist, is invalid, or missing some or all of the elements we are looking for.
  • You do not have Akeeba Backup 8, you have a version older than 7.0.0 which cannot be migrated from.

In this case you cannot migrate from a previous version of Akeeba Backup as there is no way for us to figure out which version you are running and whether the migration is possible.

Keep a copy of your backup archives taken with previous versions of Akeeba Backup. They are stored where you had told Akeeba Backup to stored your backup archives. If you had not configured a custom output directory, they are stored in the default backup output directory (administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup). Then you need to uninstall the old version of Akeeba Backup and configure Akeeba Backup 9 from scratch.
