Akeeba Solo has advanced user management.

We created one user when we installed it but we can create more.

More importantly we can protect our Akeeba Solo web site using Two Factor Authentication.

TFA means something you know and something you have which is far stronger than just having a password, something you have.

If we go to the User Manager and select our username we can see the option to enable two factor authentication.

There are two options and here we are going to enable Google Authenticator.

Google Authenticator is an app that runs on your iphone or android device.

Open Google Authenticator on your device.

You can use either scan the QR code or manually enter the key.

It is easiest if you scan the code.

Now return to the web site and enter the number on your phone here and click save and close.

Before doing anything else reopen that user and you will see some emergency one time passwords.

You MUST print these out nd keep these codes in your wallet to use if you ever lose your phone.

If you dont see the one time passwords then you were unsuccessful in setting up google authentication and this is almost always because your phone and / or your server are out of sync.

Once you have printed out the codes you can save and close and log out of Akeeba Solo.

Now if you try to login without entering the secret code you will fail.

To generate the code open Authenticator on your phone and enter the number displayed for this web site and you will now be able to login.
