EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

Trying to set up cron job for automated backup

Have set up

/usr/local/lib/php /home/neltek/public_html/burtondemo7/cli/akeeba-backup.php

and checked with host that /usr/local/lib/php is ok

In Akeeba logs it then says:

Previous backups run from backend work fine

You are looking at the wrong log. Since you are using the command line CRON helper script the correct log file would be the one from the "Command-Line" origin. Go to Akeeba Backup's back-end, select the backup profile you're using with your CRON backup (profile #1) and then click on View Log. If the "Command-line" origin doesn't show up you'll have to check your CRON settings as that would mean that the CLI CRON job never run.

I'll check with my host

The only logs are Backend and Restore Point

But why does the log have entries under backend for the time the cron was set to run

?

The backend log file is also written when you access Akeeba Backup's administrator page. If this is what you were doing at the scheduled time of the CRON job it explains why it didn't work. You must not access Akeeba Backup's control panel page while a backup, any backup, is running. If you do you will kill the backup.

Thanks again for your help

Knowing the log file should exist was just what I wanted to know

p.s. might be worth adding that into the manual under the cron section

?

:)

The information does exist in the documentation, under the View Log section. It makes more sense describing the different types of logs in the log page than in various random spots :)

:)

Was just a thought

Was just dipping in to manual on this occasion for the cron bit

So hadn't then read on to logs.

No worries was just a suggestion to have a link to how to check for success :)

Now I'm gonna duck and stay off twitter whilst you throw things at me :)
