EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:

I tried to delete a profile. The profile was the active profile. I got a message "active profile".

I clicked on "control panel" so I could change the profile. The website crashed.

I manually altered the URL so it finished /administrator/

I was able to get into admin, the message said "profile deleted". I thought, that's strange, there's my issue.

I could no longer use Akeeba Backup. I reinstalled and things were fine, but I'm reporting it as I think it was a bug.

Actually installing the latest version still gives me the same issue. I assume I need to edit something in PHP myAdmin.

It's also possible that I was not supposed to navigate away from the initial page with the warning about active profile.

Um... that's not a bug. You can delete any backup profile EXCEPT profile #1 (the default backup profile). Which profile is currently active (=selected) is immaterial. It's of course not prudent to delete the active profile but you were never forbidden from doing that.

If you do delete the active profile then of course Akeeba Backup crashes because you've told it to look for a profile that doesn't exist. If you log out and then back in from your site's back-end, e.g. by deleting the Joomla! login cookie, this conditions resets and the default backup profile is selected instead.

As for why you couldn't access your site's administrator, it's because you have published the backup notification plugin which also tries to load the (no longer existing) backup profile. You can of course visit another page like /administrator/index.php?option=com_admin and use the icon at the top right corner of the site to log out of the back-end.

Ah logging and out logging in solves it. Perfect! Thanks for the quick response.
