Please look at the bottom of this page (under Support Policy Summary) for our support policy summary, containing important information regarding our working hours and our support policy. Thank you!

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT: Please attach a ZIP file containing your Akeeba Backup log file in order for us to help you with any backup or restoration issue. If the file is over 2Mb, please upload it on your server and post a link to it.

Description of my issue:
I dont have a log file as far as I can tell because i screwed up. here is what happened:
I had two sites
root/mysite.com/ (live)
root/devsite.mysite.com/ (development)

on same shared server.
when the dev site was ready to replace the old live site... i switched folder names. (this was recommended by the host, and i forgot about akeeba pathways)

So when i went to backup each site i realized they were still saving in the old folders and i changed the output pathways and then i went to update and backup the live site and it failed and said the output directory was in use. I looked at the path and it was incorrect. it had a double // in one place. I tried to remove that and it wouldnt save and the selection section where you can browse the folders turned white. (i cannot give you a screen shot due to my next bad decision).

I decided to uninstall and reinstall. it fails uninstall by saying FEF and FOF are needed for other extensions. I have admin tools also installed, maybe that is why? unclear.

it deleted everything but those extensions and FOF30 and wont let me reinstall either. ugh.

okay so can you help me out of this mess? I am not doing anything else without advice since every step I have taken has made the situation worse not better.

Thanks, and sorry.
(my next instinct is to remove admintools too but I am going to wait for your help.)

Let's start by reinstalling Akeeba Backup. That should fix the had paths because the uninstall would have wiped them out.

If you still have a problem, use [DEFAULT_OUTPUT] for the output folder.

I think the reason why you had problems with the uninstall was that you only need to uninstall the PKG (package) file.

thank you dale!
so in between i discovered that my server had run out of space and the entire site crashed. fixed that, and then ran the reinstall and wizard and now its all working :-) sorry to have wasted your time.

quick question: why does the output pathway configured by the wizard have a // in it? it is working like that, but I would like to understand.

/chroot/home/mysite/mysite.com/html//administrator/components/com_akeeba/backup

thanks!

Usually it will ignore the doubles. It looks like you have a chroot in your path, that may be part of the problem. Joomla! doesn't like chroot.
