Could you please provide us the info on when the update to AES-256 encryption for JPS backup format is planned for?

Currently, some of your documentation may be misinterpreted for Akeeba Backup already using the AES-256 encryption: https://www.akeeba.com/documentation/akeeba-backup-documentation/backup-now.html

The encryption algorithm in JPS is AES-128 in CBC mode. The 128-bit key is derived by expansion of your password with PBKDF2, a random salt, and several thousand rounds (128000 for a static salt, 2500 when using a different salt per 64KiB block).

There is no need to go to a 256-bit key, if that's what you are asking.

Also note that you have linked to a documentation page which is no longer updated as it refers to an old version.
