Hello Akeeba Team,

I have a working Joomal 4.3.4 website. For this I use Akeeba Pro for Joomla 4.

Now I have seen the Magiceraser 1.0.1 with you and ask, can I use this to remove old Akeeba remains? Or does it also remove the current Akeeba Pro for Joomla 4 incl. the current fof40?

Thanks Thomas Selendt

FOF and FEF are not used in any of our native Joomla!β„’ 4 extensions; we use the native Joomla 4 MVC and the Bootstrap framework shipped with Joomla!. So, don't worry about removing FOF 4. It's something you have to do manually anyway.

Using MagicEraser is only validated on Joomla! 3. I don't know what will happen on Joomla! 4. Take a backup, try to run it, and then install Akeeba Backup Professional on your site, twice in a row, without uninstalling it before or in between. This will ensure that all of the correct files are present.

Hello Nicholas,
thank you very much for your quick reply. I have not applied the use of the magiceraser under Joomla 4. It was too risky for me.

But I have uninstalled all fef, fof 30 and 40 and the strapper manually so there are no more hints in the database. Then I used FTP to delete the strapper under /media and the fof30 and fof40 under /libraries.

It looks like everything worked fine.

Thanks and best regards Thomas Selendt

That sounds like a good process, pretty much what I did around four years ago when I was upgrading my development site to the then-alpha versions of Joomla 4, when there was no MagicEraser to speak of :)
