When I import a new profile for backup to S3, I always have to assign a new ‘secret password’. Is this necessary? I work with mysites.guru – do I have to enter the password there every time or does it happen automatically – is this known?
Thanks

I am not entirely sure what you are referring to. Can you please send us a clarifying screenshot about which option you are talking about?

The question is, why do I have to change every time I import a profile the secret word?
So, you are saying that importing a backup profile somehow resets the Secret Word for the front-end backup and the remote JSON API.
Importing a backup profile has nothing to do with the front-end and JSON API secret word. The secret word is stored in the component configuration. The backup profile is stored in the #__akeebabackup_profiles
database table.
Moreover, to rule out any possible issue I might have not been aware of, I set up a new site with Akeeba Backup 10.0.3, set up a Secret Word for the JSON API, and imported a backup profile I had exported from a different site. I was NOT asked to reset the secret word. That's the correct and expected behavior.
I do not know what is going on with your site, but this is not what our software does.
Please note that if any third party software modifies Akeeba Backup's component options, or overwrite Akeeba Backup's encryption key file you would indeed see this kind of behavior. Of course, that being caused by software outside our control means that we cannot offer any assistance; we can only help with what is under our control, not what someone or something else does.
