When restoring a Joomla 5.3.1 site backed up with Akeeba Backup 10.0.2 with Kickstart 8.0.6 the option "Turn on mail sending" is apparently ignored.

When I toggle that off, the restored site still shows System > Setup > Global Configuration > Server > Mail > Send Mail: Yes regardless. I would have expected "No".

The labels "Turn on mail sending" and "Send Mail" are arguably different, but II assume, the latter is the corresponding option. See the screenshot for clarification.

When restoring a site for troubleshooting or staging purposes I would generally prefer it to not send mails. So, having that parameter in the restore settings is very very convenient. I can quickly turn it off in the restored site, of course, but as the settings is there it would be nice if it were applied.

No matter how: Thank you again for your utterly great software. Akeeba Backup is definitely indespensible and very reliable. :-)

Kickstart is NOT a restoration script

Kickstart is the backup archive extraction tool. It only extracts the backup archive. It has nothing to do with the database restoration and the site reconfiguration. That is handled by BRS, the restoration script which was included in your backup archive at backup time.

This information is printed on your screen every time you run Kickstart, explained in our video tutorials, and included in several documentation pages.

Yes, you are right. BRS 10.0.3 and earlier do not respect this option. This will be fixed in the next release.

I admit that I obviously overread that in every single location. Sorry for that ... :-(
