The title of the ticket is the entire reason for the ticket.   I'd like to turn on the automatic update, if the automatic backups occur.

Thanks

The backup-on-update takes place every time you use Joomla Update in the backend of your site to update your site. It does not matter between which versions you update it.

The backup-on-update does NOT take place when you update your site in any other way including but not limited to:

  • An update initiated by the automatic update feature introduced in Joomla 5.4 / 6.0.
  • An update initiated by third party software or services such as Akeeba Panopticon, Watchful, mySites etc.
  • An update initiated in the CLI (using a third party extension, as Joomla itself does not offer such a feature).

I would like to especially draw your attention to the automatic update feature introduced in Joomla 5.4 / 6.0. It is NOT your site initiating the update, but a server under Joomla's control. Because of that, only the update takes place. Our code does not run at all in this case.

Thanks Nicholas ... I would rather not have an Joomla update done without a backup first, so I'll be doing them manually.

Cheers.
