Hi Nicholas

as a result of the poor experiences with kDrive by Infomaniak (see ticket  #42470) I am trying post-processing to my own Synology NAS. Unfortunately this fails too and I am unable to find out why.

The WebDav URL is https://DSCH8266.synology.me:5006/akeeba-backup/

I tested this with a tool called RaiDrive and the connection was established without an error. So the URL, the folder and the credentials are obviously correct.

The logfile says:

Akeeba\Engine\Postproc\Webdav::processPart - WebDAV upload failed, 0:
Akeeba\Engine\Postproc\Webdav::processPart - Maximum number of retries exceeded. The upload has failed.

but there is no precise information about the reason for this failure. You probably will see more than I.

Thank you very much and kind regards
Chris

I would recommend instead using one of the two SFTP method to upload files to Synology. It supports bigger files, it is faster, and it uses better encryption. Pay attention to the directory, though. The SFTP directory, unlike most other SFTP servers, does NOT match the actual filesystem path where the sites are stored; it appears as a subdirectory of root with a name equal to the DSM share's name. If your share is named FooBar then the SFTP directory for that share is /FooBar and it's case-sensitive!

Thank you Nicholas for this recommendation. I will try SFTP or maybe FTP.

Just a followup to my reported issue:

I was curious and tried with another website that is being hosted at a different webhoster. Here post-porocessing with WebDAV works fine. So this webhoster obviously does not like WebDAV and is blocking it?

Kind regards

It would appear to be the case. Most likely, they have a transparent proxy which may be dropping headers or part of the POST/PUT payload. I have seen that before. That's why I recommended SFTP for Synology, as it's a completely different protocol which does not go through a transparent proxy.
