Getting a 403 forbidden error trying to install on new site by uploading file. I've installed other extensions, only happening with Akeeba so far. Thanks

To clarify, you have downloaded the ZIP file on your computer and you're using Upload and Install in Joomla with this ZIP file you have on your local computer?

If that's the case, kindly note that no code of ours is involved. It's between you, Joomla, and your host. Make sure you are a Super User. If the 403 does not look like a page coming from Joomla itself, ask your host why they are blocking the upload.

Hi Nicholas Yes it was and I had already contacted my hosting company as well. Apparently was blocked by a security rule server side and is resolved now. Strange as I've uploaded many sites to same host so something must have changed as Akeeba is always installed first. Thanks for your help Best regards Jennie

Those things do happen from time to time. Hosts do try to defend against an abuse pattern they have seen, but how they do it sometimes ends up reaping innocent extensions. The age-old problem of true positive vs false positive. I am glad it's resolved now.
