I installed akeeba pro 1.5.2 on a clean joomla 1.5.22 (php 4.4.8)
and get the following failure message: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/lightbody/www.punktdeslichts.at/hp/administrator/components/com_akeeba/install.akeeba.php on line 156

any ideas - thanks in advance

The minimum requirement for Akeeba Backup is PHP 5.1.6 or later. It will certainly not work on PHP 4.4.8. Please demand your host to immediately upgrade you to the latest PHP 5 release (5.2.14 at the time of this writing). PHP 4 is not supported since August 8th, 2008 and contains a lot of high importance security bugs which can be used to compromise your site. Moreover, most Joomla! software is requiring PHP 5 and the upcoming Joomla! 1.6 will require at least PHP 5.2 in order to work.
